WHO MADE BANTU KNOTS A TREND?? CONNECT
January 29, 2016

Well, it's no secret that black girls are usually criticized for wearing their natural hair. Whether it’s bantu knots or cornrows our white peers are usually judgmental. However, when other white peers mimic these styles they are recognized for creating a new trend(insert stale face emoji here).

Now it's the fashion world that’s starting to use our natural hairstyles on girls who don’t look like us. For instance, Valentino’s Pre Fall 2016 campaign is including models, who are not of color, wearing bantu knots as a fashion statement. Not only are bantu knots coming down the runway as fashionable, but the dramatic baby hairs have walked the runway before them. Givenchy started this trend last year during their Pre Fall 2015 show.

Note to designers, If you’re going to have a show rocking our(black girls) hairstyles then you definitely need us(black girls) strutting them down the runway.
